49er's Racing Electric
Our Story
The journey of our club, UNCC Formula EV, took flight in 2021 at the William States Lee College of Engineering. Inspired by Mr. Kulwicki's legacy, a handful of visionary students recognized the pivotal role engineering plays in motorsports. They saw a future where racers weren't just at the wheel, but also behind the scenes, crafting the next generation of speed. With the automotive industry's shift toward electric vehicles (EVs), these students were driven to action, laying the foundation for a club that fused their passion for racing with their engineering prowess.

Throughout 2021 and well into 2022, our team delved deep into the complexities of managing a student-led organization. We encountered real-world challenges, learning that constructing a competitive EV racer was not just about technical expertise but also about navigating the intricacies of teamwork, fundraising, and time management.
With the invaluable support from our school, a dynamic shift in leadership reenergized the club towards the end of 2022. It wasn't just about crossing the finish line; it was about pushing our limits, innovating, and embodying the spirit of engineering excellence.
Our eyes were firmly set on the prize: to make a mark in the 2023 FSAE Electric Vehicle competition in Brooklyn, Michigan. Operating at full throttle, we transformed our collective dream into a beacon of determination, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment. It was more than building a car; it was about building the future, one electric mile at a time.
